Has anyone bought performance mods for their car off of ebay like Rims Turbo Strut bars stuff like that to save some money insead of getting everything name brand? Are some of the parts just as good? I am asking if some of the retailers on there who sell repliica parts like this …

This kind of reminds me of an episode of pinks where this one guy had a camaro of all bargain parts destroyed a guy with name brand crap on his car. I was like wow!

Depends. $200 is stupid for an intake since it’s just a flipping pipe with a filter so I bought a cheap one on ebay and for about $50 including a spectre hose coupler from autozone since it wasn’t designed for my car’s intake which is exactly as big as the intake piping where the car it was for required a reducing coupler which came with it.
I’ve bought name brand KYB struts, going to buy name brand Eibach lowering springs, I bought my front strut tower bar on ebay but as it turns out it is Alfa Otto brand which isn’t all that bad (but it’s definitely not Stillen but who cares? it’s a metal bar!) and etc.
I just buy name brand when it offers better reliability and performance. Anywhere else I keep it cheap to save my money for name brand stuff where it matters.

Does anyone else find the pre- and post-christmas sales depressing, especially this year?
Just after Christmas, I went back to the main Woolworth’s in Stockton-on-Tees (North-East England), and a Big W store also in Stockton.
The images that greeted me was akin to a Young Ones episode – it was a total riot scene; retail civil disorder reserved normally for the busiest Primark outlets. People were wheeling shelves and parts of the fixtures into their car.
Similarly, as retailers are ‘panic-selling’ because of huge fears for this year, I found the actual attempt to go into these stores hugely depressing. People scrabbling over £10 trousers etc.
The current status of the economy hangs heavy in all stores – but is the joy in still hunting a bargain there – if you indeed have any money to spend post-Christmas?
