What is the technical terminology for this part of a vehicle?
A friend and I were having a conversation a little while ago and I brought up the top of the car. (From the inside.) I’ve always called it a ceiling, so naturally I called it a ceiling in front of her. She argues that it’s actually called the roof of the car.
Now to me, a ‘roof’ is the external, upper covering of homes, buildings, and cars while a ‘ceiling’ is the overhead interior surface of a room, or space. Such as a car.
So I’d really like to know what the technical terminology for that part of a vehicle is.
Also, I’d like to know what you call it.

P.S. As long as I’ve got some smarties on here, what is the technical terminology for the dash-board compartment? My parents always called it a jock-e-box, but my friends laugh at me because I call it that. They call it a glove-box, which makes no since to me.

Surprisingly, the cloth lining the interior top of a car is usually called the headliner . I belief the roof of the car is, as with a home, the outside however, the heading can be called the interior roof and I suppose you could refer to it as a ceiling but I’ve never heard the word
ceiling used in connection with a motor vehicle.

Differences in prices across car insurance comparison sites will come from manipulation of your excess levels and how well they’ve mapped your details from their site to the insurer’s quote engine.
Also be wary of some very careful uses of terminology. One car insurance comparison site has suggested that they compare “over 400 prices”. When you think about it, this doesn’t mean they’re comparing more than 400 insurers, brands or even policies but few people spend the time to think about the message put out by the car insurance comparison companies.

There’s no doubt that a <a href=”http://uk.insurancewide.com/insurance/car/”>car insurance comparison</a> site is saving you heaps of time and saving your from repetitive form filling. This in itself is a huge benefit. Each “insurer” on a comparison site’s panel represents anything up to a 10 minute time saving for you. But don’t be mislead by the number of “brands”.
Frequently, insurance companies are actually powering a large number of brands with only marginal differences in prices and policies. Although this provides you with good coverage (as each brand “may” specialise in different types of customer), you shouldn’t be misled into thinking you’ve covered a wide variety of insurers just because you can see lots of logos.
It’s also just as important for the car insurance comparison site to provide you with a range of different insurers on their panel. The comparison site should be making sure they have a reputable insurer for as many areas of risk as possible. Otherwise, their car insurance comparison service simply becomes a big brand comparison service.
Anyone with a risk profile which is slightly out of the norm benefits from a varied panel i.e. those who drive a modified or imported car, young drivers or those with a low no claims bonus, those with claims or convictions and so on.
The final area to highlight when using car insurance comparison sites is that you shouldn’t be fixated on price alone. Obviously it is very important but it’s what you’re paying for – value – that counts. There’s no point carrying out a car insurance comparison and buying a slightly cheaper policy if it doesn’t provide you with the type of cover you’re likely to require.

Where exactly is the hood plunger / switch located on a 2006 Hyundai Accent?
I’m not 100% sure if I have the terminology down, but what I’m looking for is to locate a little switch (like a plunger) somewhere under the hood of my car (a 2006 Hyundai Accent) that detects when my hood is opened or closed. It’s function is comparable to the little plastic knob inside a refrigerator door (when it opens the light goes on, and of course, when it closes the light goes off). Same idea, except for the hood of a car.
I don’t know if it’ll help you to answer my question, but the reason I’m looking for this hood plunger / switch is because I need to manually press it in order to program my remote starter keychain & the manual (also verified by a technical support rep. from the manufacturer of the remote starter) states I have to press it as part of the programming steps.
If you can include a digital picture of where this is located that would be an instant BEST ANSWER.
The switch is located under the hood next to the right fender. The rubber piece is attached to the hood and pushes it down when it’s closed. It’s called a pad lid switch by hyundai. Look just behind the right headlamp. Sorry no picture, could not copy it.
